The Children's Hospital Trust
The Children’s Hospital Trust is an independent charity and the fundraising arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape. Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is the stand alone, specialist hospital dedicated entirely to children in Southern Africa. Since its inception in 1994, we have been a dedicated children’s charity focused on helping sick children in need and are governed by a dedicated and passionate Board of Trustees.
The Children’s Hospital has the only dedicated Paediatric Trauma Centre in South Africa, as well as the only Poison Information Centre. It performs approximately 750 operations per month in 8 fully equipped surgical theatres and treats over 260 000 children each year. It is the foremost centre of excellence in paediatric healthcare on the African continent, a national asset, a continental resource and an inspiration – a truly special African institution.
The Trust is funding the Breatheasy’s equipment needs for patients of the Children’s Hospital until 2014, in order to support the mandate of the Alexander Green Foundation to grow the programme. All donations made as a result of fundraising efforts by the Alexander Green Foundation will be ring-fenced and financially managed by the Trust for the Breatheasy.
